- We Value Intimacy With God
We were created to know Him and to reverence and love Him and enjoy Him
forever. We Therefore practice the spiritual disciplines that bring us
into the presence of God.
- "As the deer pants for streams of water, so I long
for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God...": (Psalm 42:1,2)
- "Jesus replied. . .the water I give them takes away
thirst altogether. It becomes a perpetual spring within them, giving
them eternal life" (John 4:14)
- We Value Application of God's Word
We endeavor to make God's Word relevant so that the Holy Spirit can
apply its truth to the consciences in such a way that enables Christians
and pre-Christians to respond to the Good News of the life that is in
Christ.
- "Anyone who listens to my teaching and obeys me is
wise, like a person who builds a house on the solid rock" (Matthew
7:24)
- "And remember it is a message to obey, not just to
listen to. If you don't obey, you are only fooling yourself" (James
1:22)
- We Value People
People are important to God; He created us and redeemed us. Jesus lived
and died for us. He puts great value on each individual. Therefore,
people are important to Anchor of Hope. As a result we seek to build
genuine relationships with all kinds and variety of pre-Christians which
consummate with their becoming disciples of Christ.
- "We have stopped evaluating others by what the
world thinks about them...What this means is that those who become
Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the
old life is gone. A new life has begun! All this newness of life is
from God, who brought us back to himself through what Christ did. And
God has given us the task of reconciling people to Him" (II Cor.
5:16-18)
- We Value The Abilities God Gives His People
- "God has given each of us the ability to do certain
things well" (Rom. 12:6)
- "God has given gifts to each of you from His great
variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God's generosity
can flow through you" (I Pet. 4:10)
- We Value Authenticity
- "We can say with confidence and a clear conscience
that we have been honest and sincere in all our dealings. We have
depended on God's grace, not on our own earthly wisdom. That is how we
have acted toward everyone, and especially toward you." (I Cor 1:12)
- We Value Service
With God there are no little people, no small places, and no menial
tasks.
- "Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be
your servant...For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served
but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many" (Mat.
20:26,29).
- "...David served his generation according to the
will of God..." (Acts 13:36).
- "For you...have been called to live in
freedom---not freedom to satisfy your sinful nature, but freedom to
serve on another in love (Gal. 5:13).
- We Value Teamwork
- "Now all of you together are Christ's body, and
each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it" (I Cor 12:27)
- "Two people can accomplish more than twice as much
as one; they get a better return for their labor (Eccle. 4:9)
- "We are all parts of His one body, and each of us
has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we
belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others." (Romans
12:5)
- We Value Excellence
- "Be sure to do what you should, for then you will
enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you
won't need to compare yourself to anyone else" (Gal 6:4)
- "But there is going to come a time of testing at
the judgment day to see what kind of work each builder has done.
Everyone's work will be put through the fire to see whether or not it
keeps its value (I Cor 3:13)
- We Value Communicating Good News to Contemporary Culture
- "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to
everyone, everywhere" (Mark 16:15)
- "So Paul, standing before the council (in the
middle of Mars Hill) addressed them. . .When they heard Paul speak of
the resurrection of a person who had been dead, some laughed, but
others said, 'We want to hear more about this later'. . .Some joined
him and became believers (Acts 17:22,32,34).
- "When they heard this sound, a crowd came together
in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own
language" (Acts 2:6)
